On others we reflect.<br /> The 15th anniversary of the attack on America and New York&rsquo;s World Trade Center is one of the times for reflection. There is truly nothing to celebrate in the extraordinary tragedy of 9/11.<br /> As much as I would like to forget some of them, the images from that day will never be out of my mind, nor will the victims and their families.<br /> But there is one memory I want to hold on to, one that I want to cherish as the deepest and most lasting of Sept. 11, 2001.<br /> Letters for Sept. 21, 2016 <p> All invited to pray for addiction recovery efforts<br /> In the face of tremendous pain and suffering caused by drug use, the pastors of Henry County have come together, forming an initiative to consider a response filled with both grace and truth.<br /> Our desire is to affirm all life as sacred, that no one is too far gone, that no soul is beyond saving. We know this because we are not perfect ourselves. Ministers stand in the need of the same grace.<br /> Club with rich history of service dissolves <img src="" alt="Members of the Campbellsburg Woman’s Club celebrated the 100th birthday of the organization with a tea." title="Members of the Campbellsburg Woman’s Club celebrated the 100th birthday of the organization with a tea." align="left" hspace="6" /><p class="p1"> Our Campbellsburg Woman&rsquo;s Club was founded in 1906 and federated by the Kentucky Women&rsquo;s Club in 1908. The club was founded by Mrs. J.T Jefferies, and its first president was Mrs. Noble Humston.&nbsp;</p> <p class="p1"> The objective of this organization was friendship, culture, social services and the promotion of better conditions in the community.</p> <p class="p1"> One of the club&rsquo;s first projects was the establishment of a town library in 1908. Though it had a happy beginning, the project has come to a sad end.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p> To clarify offerings <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">The Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities does not offer educational classes, but the health department has that responsibility. KCHC is a group of community members and stakeholders from many entities coming together. Many Americans take the time to remember those who were prisoners of war (POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA), as well as their families. Let us pray that we never forget those who have never returned home to their families.</span></p> Has SNAP changed? <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">On Aug. 29, I was in line at [a local convenience store] in Eminence and I was shocked at what I saw.&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">The lady in front of me bought 12, 16-ounce beers and a pack of cigarettes and nothing else with her SNAP card. They took her card and okayed the purchase.&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">So, now the government supports your alcohol and tobacco habit? This costs our taxpayers untold amounts of money in health care and alcohol-related care and deaths.</span></p> Thanks for support <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to each and every one who helped make the Odd Fellows parade a success.&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">To those who loaned us their vehicles, their wagon and their time to come out and participate, we say thank you.
