Local artist spends time in classrooms to share love of art

By Christopher Brooke

Sharon Silvers, who recently served as an artist-in-residence at Eastern Elementary School, worked with fifth-grade students on their barn quilt idea last week. Funded by the Eastern Elementary Parent Teacher Organization with a donation from the Henry County Arts and Crafts Guild, Silvers gave pointers to the children working on their project-based learning unit to paint and build a barn quilt, according to the school’s arts and humanities teacher, Robin Tillman. The completed work will go on sale at the school’s auction.
