By Tommie Kendall

The 2009 Wildcats were at the top of their game. They claimed the District Four championship to guarantee home field advantage in the state playoffs. They won a school-record 10 games with an impressive 10-3 mark — only Somerset at 14-1 and Mason County at 11-1 were better in Class 3-A. They beat Moore in the first round of the playoffs. They beat Elizabethtown in the second round. They reached the state quarterfinals for just the second time in school history.
