The Henry County Fiscal Court last week voted 4-2 on second reading to approve a county real property tax increase of 4 percent, from 11.7 cents per $100 assessed value to 12.16 cents per $100.

Magistrate Chuck Smith and Magistrate Robert Hartlage voted against the increase.

This increase would be on the county real estate only, which is 10 percent of the total Henry Property Tax Statement. Judge-Executive John Logan Brent said this is the first property tax increase since 2002.

The change would be about a $4 increase on a $100,000 home.
