By Tammy Shaw

Henry County fire and rescue departments raised a total of $61,500 for the 65th annual Crusade for Children this year. The Crusade, which includes a telethon, is a yearly event established in 1954 by WHAS-TV in Louisville to raise money for agencies, schools and hospitals to improve the quality of life for children with special needs. Local volunteers and firefighters held events throughout the year to supplement totals from roadblocks across the county. New Castle Fire Department also held a fish fry that brought in $3,200.
