The Kentucky State Police Post 5 and Henry County Sheriff’s Office will hold a joint active shooter training session Saturday, May 11, at the Henry County High School.

The training is designed to improve law enforcement’s response to school shootings.

Henry County Sheriff Danny Cravens, who led the initiative the hold the training, said that although different agencies will be at the training, they were all working toward the same goal.  “Our agency and the Kentucky State Police are united in one cause: the safety of students.  This training makes us stronger and teaches us how to better handle a situation with a gunman in a school,” Cravens said.

Tim Abrams, Superintendent of Henry County Schools, was glad to offer the high school as a training ground for the Troopers and Deputies.

“The Henry County Public Schools is pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Kentucky State Police and the Henry County Sheriff’s office to practice for an event that we certainly hope will never happen.  Our student’s safety is and always will be our first priority.  Our first responders are terrific and we are pleased to be a part of their training.”
