Church activities

Sulphur Christian Church meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

Drennon Christian Church meets from 6 to 8 p.m. most Wednesdays. Check the Facebook page for the current schedule.

Life Church will hold Sunday service at 1 p.m. at La Grange Presbyterian Church, 1931 Prestwick Drive in La Grange.

Civic organizations

Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at Henry Christian Church every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Buddy’s Place in New Castle.

Pleasureville Masonic Lodge No. 410 meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Lodge Hall, 105 Main St., Pleasureville.

Pleasureville Economic Development Council meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall.

Clubs & organizations

Henry County Amateur Radio Emergency Service meetings are at 3 p.m. the third Saturday of each month at the Henry County Public Library, 172 Eminence Terrace, Eminence.

Community events

The Trimble County Hymn Sing will be hosted by the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Campbellsburg on Dec. 6 at 9255 Main Street, Campbellsburg.

The Dickens Christmas Festival will hold its seventh annual old-fashioned Christmas at the Kentucky Renaissance Fair the second weekend this month, Dec. 8 and 9. Entertainment includes scenes from “A Christmas Carol,” caroling, photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, artisans, merchants and more. Christmas plate dinners available. Christmas in Pleasureville will be held Dec. 8. from 10 a.m. until noon. Breakfast with Santa at the Main Street Café, Mike Grimes book signing, Merry Melodious Dulcimer perform and free pictures with Santa at Renee and Company.

Dove and Grammy Award-winning recording artist David Phelps will perform at Shelby Christian Church, 2375 Frankfort Road, Shelbyville, at 7 p.m. Dec. 9.

Cram the Cruiser, an annual Kentucky State Police program, is in full swing. Troopers at KSP Post 5 will accept canned goods and nonperishable food through Dec. 10 at the facility in Campbellsburg.

New Castle Christian Church will hold two American Red Cross blood drives from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 and Feb. 12 at the church in New Castle.

Santa Paws Christmas Bazaar, a Betsy Jackson Memorial fundraiser to benefit the Henry Trimble Animal Shelter, will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at the 4-H building, 1106 Castle Highway.

Cookies with Santa will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Campbellsburg Community Center.

There will be a chili supper at Main Street Cafe from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Dec. 16, sponsored by Pleasureville Economic Development Council.

Sounds of the Season, a Pleasureville community-wide event, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Pleasureville Baptist Church sanctuary, featuring local soloist and the community-wide choir. Refreshments follow.

KY Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC) will hold quarterly meetings from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month in December, March, June and September. Speakers will discuss topics and the group will serve a healthy lunch. On months without quarterly meetings—November, January, February, April, May, July, August and October, Zoom meetings “Let’s Stay Connected with CommUNITY Conversations” will be held from 2 to 3 p.m.

Community service

Tri-County Community Action Agency is looking for mentors for students in Henry and Trimble Counties. Contact the Trimble County Mentoring Coordinator at (502) 225-5100, extension 1046, or send an email to debbie@tricountycaaky.org.

Tri-County Community Action COMPASS Substance Abuse Resource Program is providing services to parents whose students are potentially using substances. Parents can schedule a screening that can help determine what services might be the most helpful and may receive a take-home drug test with that screening service. The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3 to 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

The Henry County Help Center will have open registration at the Eminence United Methodist Church from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, at the Lockport Baptist Church from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Sunday, at Sulphur Christian Church 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Drennon Christian Church from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday and Franklinton Baptist Church Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at New Castle Christian Church Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Must be a resident of Henry County to qualify. Support groups

Women Walking in Recovery, an open Alcoholics Anonymous group for women, meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Campbellsburg, 8043 Main Street in Campbellsburg. Call Laura at (502) 220-8098 for more information.

In connection with the Celebrate Recovery meeting held at New Castle First Baptist Church on Tuesday nights, a 12-step study group will meet at First United Methodist Church, 8043 Main Street in Campbellsburg at 7 p.m. on Thursday nights. Celebrate Recovery, a support group that addresses addictions, meets at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday at New Castle First Baptist Church.

A monthly family support group for those affected by addiction meets at 3 p.m. every second Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Campbellsburg. Families, friends and those in recovery are all welcome. You are not alone.

The Henry County Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary meets at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Eminence Christian Church, 5333 South Main Street in Eminence.
