Church Activities

Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God, 124 Smith Lane in Bedford will offer a revival service, 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 to 22. The speaker will be Bro. Jerry Cottrell from West Virginia.

Providence Baptist Church, 51 Louden Lane, will host a chili and soup supper, Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. with a trunk or treat to follow. All are welcome. For more info, call (502) 532-6321.

Pleasant View Baptist Church will celebrate its 132-year church anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker is Rev. Theodore Todd of Elk Creek MBC along with his congregation. Lunch will be served at 2 p.m.

Berea Christian Church on Franklinton Road in Henry County will have their annual  Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 22.  Gather at 10 a.m. for visiting, worship service begins at 11a.m., followed by a meal, furnished by the church. Afternoon Singing and Sharing begins at 1:30 p.m.  All are invited to join us for any or all of it.

Sulphur Christian Church meets each Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.


Civic Organizations

Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at Henry Christian Church every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Buddy’s Place in New Castle. 

Pleasureville Masonic Lodge No. 410 meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Lodge Hall, 105 Main St., Pleasureville.

Pleasureville Economic Development Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at city hall. 


Clubs & Organizations

Henry County Amateur Radio Emergency Service meetings are the third Saturday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Henry County Public Library, 172 Eminence Terrace, Eminence. 

The Second Wind Dreams committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Extension Office in New Castle. If you are interested in helping the residents of Providence New Castle Healthcare, please join us. Please call 845-0675 for additional information.

Community Events

There will be a pork chop dinner, Friday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 7:30 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge in Pleasureville.

The Four Season’s Garden Club of Shelby and Henry counties will host a biannual fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. “The Hors d’Oeuvres and Wine Auction” will be at the Shelbyville Country Club, located at 47 Smithfield Road, Shelbyville. Community Service

Applications will be taken for the annual Teddy Bear Tree program beginning Friday, Oct. 13, and ending Monday, Nov. 13, at the Tri-County Community Action Agency located at 125 Park Road in New Castle, beside the health department. This program provides selected families with gift including clothes and toys for their children. Applications will be taken weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please be sure to sign up before the deadline of Nov. 13. Tri-County Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Trimble County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 43 High Country Lane, Bedford. The public is invited to attend. Tri-County CAA provides services in Henry, Oldham and Trimble counties.

The Tri-County Community Action Agency drive-through commodities are offered on the third Tuesday of each month, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Henry County Fairgrounds. Need identification. For additional information, please call Joan or Stephanie at 845-7808.

Tri-County Community Action COMPASS Substance Abuse Resource Program is providing services to parents whose students are potentially using substances. Parents can schedule a screening that can help determine what services might be the most helpful and may receive a take home drug test with that screening service. The Henry-Trimble County Animal Shelter will host a monthly meeting on the second Tuesdays of every month.

The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3 to 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, seven days a week.

The Henry County Help Center will have open registration at the Eminence United Methodist Church from 1 to 2 p.m. on Fridays, at the Lockport Baptist Church from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays, at Sulphur Christian Church 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Drennon Christian Church from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sundays and Franklinton Baptist Church Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at New Castle Christian Church Mondays from 9 to 11 a.m. You must be a resident of Henry County to qualify. New Castle Elementary SBDM meetings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month starting at 4 p.m.

Eastern Elementary School SBDM council meets on the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. in the school library. 

The Campbellsburg Elementary School Site Based Council will meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the school library.

Eminence SBDM meetings will be the second Wednesday of the month at 3:15 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

The Henry County Middle School SBDM meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. in the conference room.

Political Groups

The Henry County Republican Party meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The Henry County Democratic Party will meet the last Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.


Support Groups

Women Walking in Recovery, an open Alcoholics Anonymous group for women, meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at the First United Methodist Church of Campbellsburg, 8043 Main Street in Campbellsburg. Call Laura at (502) 220-8098 for more information.

In connection with the Celebrate Recovery meeting held at New Castle First Baptist Church on Tuesday nights, a 12-step study group has begun meeting at First Presbyterian Church in Eminence on Thursday nights. This open meeting begins at 7 p.m. and attendees will work through the 12 steps of recovery. For more information, contact Terry Johnson at 845-4132.

Grief Share grief support meets every Monday night at Eminence Christian Church, 5333 Main Street (across from Subway), 6:30 to 8 p.m. Use the office doors to enter the building. This session continues meeting through December 4. If you have suffered the death of a loved one, we invite you to join us. Celebrate Recovery, a support group that addresses several kinds of addictions, meets each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at New Castle First Baptist Church. Childcare is available from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A monthly family support group for those affected by addiction meets every second Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Campbellsburg at 3 p.m. Families, friends and those in recovery are all welcome. You are not alone.

The Henry County Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Eminence Christian Church, 5333 South Main Street in Eminence. Gamblers anonymous and gameanon for family members meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at Port Royal United Methodist Church, 8230 Port Royal Road, Port Royal.

AA meeting at 8 p.m. at Eminence Methodist Church on Tuesdays. 

Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon meet at 8 p.m. Fridays, at Eminence Baptist Church. All meetings are nonsmoking.

A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drug or other addictions, will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Fridays, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.

Library News

Movers & Shakers a program for infants and toddlers and their caregivers with a focus on early learning takes place every Thursday at 10 am.

Little Explorers designed for ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers takes place every Tuesday and Friday at 10 am.

Teen Halloween Fun will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for middle and high school students.
