Arts & Crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Pleasureville Christian Church Crafty Christians invites anyone interested in crafts and fellowship to join in the fellowship hall on Sunday, Oct. 28, to decorate crafts for upcoming holiday seasons.

Church Events

Pleasureville Christian Church will have Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, with a chili cook off, games and fellowship in the Pleasureville Christian Church parking lot.

New Castle Christian Church and New Castle United Methodist Church will have trunk or treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. There will be hot dogs, bouncy house and photo booth. Church street will be blocked to auto traffic.

Pleasureville Christian Church will have Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 31 f rom 6 to 8 p.m. with a chili cook off, games and fellowship in the Pleasureville Christian Church parking lot.

Story Hour at Pleasureville Christian Church will be from 10 to 11 a.m. every Friday. Ages 3-10. All are welcome and help is appreciated. Contact (502) 878-4976 or (502) 706-1184 for more information.

Bible study at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Sulphur Christan Church hosts Bible study every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Call Pastor Jeff Maggard at (502) 544-6946 for more information.

Andy Griffith Bible Study, 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Drennon Christian Church. Begins with a meal.

Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in the Ramada Inn meeting room.

New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Children through the fifth grade are invited to participate in this fun and creative learning group.

Civic Organizations

The Oldham County Shrine Club will have an Open House and informational meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Oldham County Library. Meeting is for current shriners in the area wishing to join the Shrine Club and any Master Mason wishing to become a Shriner. Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at Henry Christian Church every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Elza Roberts’ Cozy Corner Restaurant in New Castle.

Pleasureville Masonic Lodge No. 410 meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Lodge Hall, 105 Main St., Pleasureville.

Community Services

The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, seven days a week.

Education

Eastern Elementary will have  its SBDM council  meeting at 4 p.m. in the school library.

Fish Fry

Point Pleasant Christian Church Youth will host a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Special music will be provided by The Eminence Singers at 7 p.m. A love offering will be accepted.

Eminence City Council — 6:15 p.m., second Monday of each month at Eminence City Hall.

New Castle City Commission — 7 p.m., first Monday of each month at the New Castle Fire Department.

Pleasureville City Commission — 7 p.m., first Monday of each month at Pleasureville City Hall.

Smithfield City Commission — 7:30 p.m., first Monday of each month at Smithfield Baptist Church.

Henry County Fiscal Court — 6 p.m., third Tuesday of each month in the District Court Room.

Henry County Board of Education — 7 p.m., third Monday of every month at various locations.

Eminence Independent Board of Education — 6:30 p.m., third Tuesday of every month at the Board of Education office unless otherwise announced.

Henry County Planning and Zoning — 7 p.m., second Wednesday of each month at the Henry County Courthouse.

Henry County P&Z Board of Adjustments – 7 p.m., fourth Monday of each month at the Henry County Courthouse.

Health & Fitness

Diabetes Support group, second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. 7 p.m. at the Henry County 4-H building at the Henry County Fairgrounds.

The Henry County Diabetic Coalition will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon the first Thursday of each month, at the Henry County Fairgrounds 4-H building. For more information, contact Mona Huff at 845-6849.

Political Groups

Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., second Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Support Groups

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, Oct. 26. This group and Al-Anon will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Eminence Methodist Church. All meetings are nonsmoking.

AA meeting at 8 p.m. at Pleasureville Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 27. Nonsmoking.

A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drug or other addictions, will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.

Caregiver support group meet at 5:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month, for people taking care of someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s. (877) 224-1349, Ext. 140.
