A woman driving a blue sedan rounded a curve in Sligo and traveled off the roadway, stopping when she hit a tree around 2 p.m. Monday.

A few moments later, according to Campbellsburg Fire and Rescue Chief David Noe, a black Explorer turning out of Yates Lane and onto Pendleton Road across the street from the first accident, was hit in the back by a third vehicle, a light-colored van, which flew over an embankment and landed several yards away, avoiding a pond and trees.

According to Garry and Donna Ray, whose yard two of the cars ended up in, 15 cars have landed in their front yard in 14 years. They planted more trees for the sole purpose of stopping cars that fly off Pendleton Road from reaching the pond.

“This isn’t a highway anymore,” she said.

The Rays have petitioned county officials to lower the speed limit or put in some type of barrier.

Drivers only reported one minor injury, the driver of the sedan. She was taken to the hospital by a private car.
