The Henry County Public Schools Superintendent finished strong after his first year on the job, according to the board of education. For the 2017-2018 school year, Superintendent Terry Price received an “Accomplished” rating on all seven Superintendent Standards given by the board of education. Price also received an overall rating as “Accomplished.” “I feel very comfortable with the overall rating I received from the board being a first year superintendent,” Price said in a statement. “I trust our board and our board is very involved in what I do.  When you put kids first in all of your decisions you are doing what is right.” The yearlong evaluation process begins with a Superintendent Leadership Plan where Price completes a self-reflected plan to develop goals for the year and then meets with the board to develop a Professional Growth Plan for the year. Price gathers evidence for the growth plan throughout the year and shares it at the end with the board. Then the board collectively determines Price’s performance level, according to the Kentucky School Board Association website. According to a scale of the four scoring levels in the Superintendent Evaluation System, an Accomplished Performance is described as “provides evidence of proficient performance in meeting the standard.” The Accomplished level is considered above two levels: Developing and Threshold Progress, but below the Exemplary/Expert Performance level.  The seven standards set by the system are: Strategic, Instructional, Cultural, Human Resource, Managerial, Collaborative and Influential Leadership. “We feel like Terry has done a good job taking the reigns and taking over … he had big shoes to fill,” Tony Whaley, board chairperson, said. “He’s done a good job meeting the needs of the district.” Price began his teaching career at Eastern Elementary in Henry County in 1989. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree from Eastern Kentucky University in elementary education and a master’s of arts degree from the University of Louisville in middle grades education. Price began his role as Henry County Public Schools Superintendent in May 2018 after being hired as Assistant Superintendent in 2016.
