By request, Eminence may allow golf carts to take to certain streets

A citizen request has put Eminence City Council on a path that may end up authorizing the use of golf carts on streets with 25 mph speed limits, under certain conditions.

Council members first began researching golf carts after the June meeting, when Robert Heightchew appeared to ask for a way to make them street legal.

While state law does not authorize golf carts for use on city streets, Kentucky statutes contain provisions that will allow a local government to approve such an ordinance, as City Attorney Bill Brammell advised during the discussion.
