• John Buford Cobb Jr., 77

    John Buford Cobb, Jr., age 77 of Pewee Valley, formerly of Eminence, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 31, 2012.
    He and his wife were owners of Stoess Funeral Home and Crestwood Hardware, a member of DeHaven Baptist Church, a loving dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother. He was a graduate of Georgetown College and attended Southern Baptist Theological  Seminary. He pastored Baptist Churches in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. He was the son of the late J.B. and Muriel Cobb.

    Marietta (Dixon) Owens, age 73 of Lockport, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012. She was known as Granny to most. She formerly worked at Brunswick for 30 plus years and was a member of Lockport Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Lester and Betty (Spurr) Dixon.
    She is survived by five daughters: Betty Banta (Rick), Eminence; Connie Rearden

  • Layton Rouse, DMD, 93

    Layton, L. “Mickey” Rouse, DMD, age 93 of New Castle, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living. Son of the late Louis Elbert and Jessie (Huey) Rouse, he was a U.S. Army Veteran.
    He is survived by his wife, Betsy (Brown) Rouse, New Castle; and two daughters: Dorothy (Rouse) Meng, Lexington; Mary Louise Schepman, New Castle.

    Mary Louise Adams Brent, age 86 of Campbellsburg, died April 4, 2012, at her residence in Trimble County. She was the daughter of  the late Clifford Adams and Lorena Tingle Adams.

    She is survived by her daughter, Julie Evelyn Brent, Fairhope, Ala.; her son Charles Adams “Chuck” Brent, Campbellsburg.

    Barbara Sue (Ramsey) Elliston, age 90 of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange. She was the daughter of the late Nell (Elliot) and Webb Ramsey Sr.

    She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Elliston, Campbellsburg and one son, Daniel Elliston, Campbellsburg.

    Cremation was chosen. Memorial Graveside services will be held at a later date.

    Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Iva Mae Ricketts, age 75 of Louisville, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Hattie (McCubbins) Conrad.

    She is survived by one daughter, Diane Sue Ricketts, Louisville.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Bro. Robert Shaw, pastor of Bashford Manor Baptist Church, will officiate. Wilma Owen will assist. Interment will be in Port Royal Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 11) at the funeral home.

    Connie Sue Wentworth, age 55 of Eminence, died Sunday, April 8, 2012. She last worked at Homestead Nursing Center as a Certified Medical Technician. She was the daughter of the late Sanford and Delores (Warner) Kemper.

    He is survived by his wife, Ruby Willhite, Scottsburg, Ind.; three daughters: Rosanna Neace, Austin, Ind.; Debbie Carpenter, Lexington, Ind.; Betty Williams, Charlestown, Ind.; one son, Tommy Lynn Willhite, Scottsburg, Ind.; stepdaughter, Deborah Jones, Campbellsburg; three stepsons: Jeffery Lynn Rodgers, Taylorsville; Jesse Dean Rodgers, Chatanooga, Tenn.; and Steven Anthony Rodgers, Pleasureville.

    Harold Bowling, age 79 of Crestwood, died March 26, 2012.
    He is survived by five sons,  Prentice, Richard, Roger, Mitchell, and Jerry and one daughter, Patricia Jane Ritter.
