• James Henry Morrow Jr.

    James Henry Morrow Jr., age 71 of Scottsboro, Ala., died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Highlands Medical Center.

    He is survived by his wife, Lydia S. Morrow; one son, Timothy Clay Morrow; five daughters: Cheryl Lavonee Pascoe, Cheryl Ann Lary, Mary Brewer, April Suelyn Walton and Christine Ann Morrow; two brothers: Nathaniel Morrow and Jay Morrow; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by son, James Bradley Morrow.

  • Betty Prewitt

    Betty (Ogden) Prewitt, age 69 of New Castle died Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Norton Pavilion Hosparus Unit.  She was the daughter of the late O.T. & Irene (Brumback) Ogden. She was a former Miss Henry County.  A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Betty was an English teacher and an art instructor. Betty was a licensed funeral director and owner of Prewitt Funeral Home.  She was a member of Henry Christian Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Prewitt; one sister, Dorothy Bickers and one brother, O.T. Ogden, Jr.

  • Sally McGuire

    Sally D. McGuire, age 71 of Eminence, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast  in La Grange. She was the daughter of the late Robert Taylor and Maggie (Rucker) McGuire.

    She was survived by several nieces and nephews.

    Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be held at a later date.

    Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  • Josie Morgan

    Josie Morgan, age 89 of New Castle, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at U of L Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Tandy Lee and Eula (Bailey) Young.

    She worked with tax preparation and was a homemaker. She was an active member of New Castle First  Baptist  Church where she was the former director of the Women’s Missionary Union. She previously served as the Henry County Director of the WMU.

    Justin Michael Jaggers, age 22 of Shelbyville, died Friday, May 4, 2012. He was a member of Cropper Baptist Church and worked at Hussey Copper in Eminence.

  • Franklin Mertz, 69


    Franklin C. Mertz, age 69 of New Castle, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Norton Suburban Hospital. He was the son of the late Fred and Maudie (Frazier) Mertz.

    He is survived by three daughters: Tammy Downey, Carrollton; Melissa Mertz and Amanda Mertz both of Bedford; his wife, Phyllis Mertz, Bedford; two step-daughters: Kathy Childs and Patty Moore, both of Milton; and one stepson, Robert McIntyre of Sanders.

    Rebecca Poe, age 50 of Pendleton, died Monday, April 30, 2012.

    She is survived by her husband, Steven; two daughters; Clarissa Carson and Stephanie Olds; and one son, Adam Mallad.

    Visitation was 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, May 6, at Oldham County Funeral Home in La Grange. No other services were held.

    Roscoe Randy Sizemore, age 61 of Lockport, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at New Horizon Medical Center in Owenton. He was born in Detroit, Mich., and was the son of the late Roscoe Sizemore Jr., and Bonnie Smith Sizemore. He was a retired engineer from CSX Railroad where he worked for 42 years.

    Robert Eugene Calvert, 59

    Robert Eugene Calvert, age 59 of Pleasureville, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange. He was born in Frankfort, worked at the Pleasureville Locker and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was the son of the late Eugene Calvert.

  • Jessie Clark

    Jessie Clark, 81

    Jessie William Clark, 81 of Carrollton, died on Monday, April 23, 2012, at his residence.

    He was the son of the late George Jessie Clark and Callie F. Wilkerson Clark.

    He is survived by his son, Fannie Lee Stafford Clark, Carrollton; his daughter, Linda Ann Clark Grawemeyer, Carrollton; a son, Mike “Will” Clark, Warsaw.

    Funeral services were 1 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin LeCompte officiated. Interment was in New Castle Cemetery.
