  • Oh, Henry! Day One: School starts Aug. 14

    The school year is off to a great start for Henry County Public Schools. The first few days of school were filled with great excitement as teachers and students hit the ground running on day one, Aug. 14. These photos provide a look at how things got started. Our thanks to Melissa Blankenship for sharing these images she captured of the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.

  • Lady Cats beat Spencer in season opener


    The Henry County Lady Cats fell behind early in their season opener at home against Spencer County then roared back to win 5-3.

    Henry County created more chances in the opening minutes as Presley Crowe had two shots saved and Bridgette Keeling had two long free kicks sail just over the bar in the first eight minutes.

    But 15 minutes into the game, Spencer County scored on a follow up shot from close range after the initial shot was blocked.

  • Wildcats win opener at Grant


    The Henry County Wildcats got off to a good start to the 2019 season with a 3-0 win over Grant County on the road Aug. 13.

    Dylan Hedrick had the honor of scoring the first goal of the season in the 13th minute when he hit a left-footed shot into the back of the net from 25 yards out.

    One minute later, Josiah Montero received a through ball from Angel Rivera and got behind the defense to net from close and make it 2-0.

  • Hadden runner-up at Danville


    The Henry County Wildcat golf team traveled to the Danville Country Club Saturday to take on some of the best teams in the state.

    The Wildcats had a tough day but Alex Hadden had another strong showing as he shot 68 to finish second in the tournament.

    Isaac Klempner shot 78, Maddox Klempner shot 90, Wyatt Pittman shot 91 and Will Peyton shot 94.

    The Wildcats finished 10th with a score of 327. Clay County shot 281 to win the tournament with Trinity finishing second and St. Xavier finishing third.

  • HCHS plays in Anderson tourney


    The Henry County Lady Cats golf team traveled to Lawrenceburg to play in Anderson County High School’s Joy of Golf Invitational tournament Saturday.

    The Lady Cats were without one golfer so they had no team score.

    Sophomore Carleigh Peyton led the team with a 96. Freshman Lizzy Hansen shot 113 and seventh-grader Addison Miskell shot 119.
