  • Tingle to replace Bright at Eastern Elementary

     

    Eastern Elementary will see a transition in June as Principal Sharon Bright retires, opening the way for its new leader, Chelsey Tingle.

    Bright served in Henry County schools for 24 years, after going to Kentucky State for her undergrad work and completing her graduate work at University of Louisville.

    The retiring principal described herself as a non-traditional student who didn’t pursue a college degree until after she had children of her own.

  • May 20 Primary Election results in Henry County

    The votes in the Primary Election for Henry County have been tallied.

    These are the unofficial results from the county clerk’s office in the Democratic Party Primary Election for the local races:

    • County Clerk: Shanda E. Archer received 1,886 votes, or 80.36 percent of all cast, as compared to the 461 votes, or 19.64 percent, for Chrisana Jones Clifford.

    • Magistrate - 3rd District: Jason Stanley prevailed over two others in the race. Stanley got 269 votes, or 57.85 percent.

  • Lady Cats nip Lady Panthers on sac fly

    The Henry County Lady Cats went into their game on May 6 with the Carroll County Lady Panthers knowing that they would be the fourth seed in the district tournament but still wanting to prove something against the top-seeded Carroll County Lady Panthers who defeated them 10-3 earlier in the season.

  • Warriors fall to Williamstown, Gallatin

    The Eminence Warriors’ baseball team hosted Gallatin County on May 6 and fell to the Wildcats 12-0 in five innings. With the win Gallatin County clinched the top seed in the district tournament that starts next week

    The Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first but the Warriors kept it close until a six-run fifth inning did them in.

     “They had two on and two outs and we made an error that opened the door for them to score four runs,” Coach Jay Virgin said. “We should have been out of the inning without any runs.”

  • Wildcats whip Warriors

    The Henry County Wildcats’ baseball team got their second win of the season over cross-county rivals the Eminence Warriors on May 5.

    The Wildcats got only eight hits against the Warriors but they used good base running and took advantage of five Eminence errors to score 13 runs.

    Connor Smith pitched for the Wildcats and held the Warriors to two runs on five hits. Smith struck out nine batters on the night.

  • HCHS wraps up season with home meet

    The Henry County Wildcats’ track team wrapped up the regular season with a home meet on Thursday night. Many of the teams participating in the meet brought one or two athletes as they tried to become eligible for the regional meets, which started this weekend. Henry County’s regional meet was held yesterday at Christian Academy and will be reported on in next week’s paper.

    Coach Melissa Sheron was pleased with her team’s final tune up.

  • Sharpshooters host event at Steel Tech

    The Henry County Sharpshooters hosted their first YHEC event May 9 when the Brewer Invitational was held at Steel Tech Range in Eminence.  Thirty-one participants represented four counties, and once again, the Senior team won first place, while the Juniors won second in their division.

  • Warriors' softball honors seniors

    Coach Jerry Martin said of his seniors, “Both girls began the season setting an example to the younger players during the conditioning phase. No one ever beat Samantha in leg lifts! During the middle school season Jamie became involved by going to games, keeping the scorebook and being a good role model. Both remain good team players as the season closes.”
