  • Fall sports practices underway

    Several EHS and HCHS fall sports teams began practices last week. the players got a lucky break with milder than normal temperatures for the first few days. Coaches for most of the teams focused on basic drills and conditioning while some teams went over some of their basic offensive and defensive schemes.

  • Taco Punk to cook for Harvest Showcase

     The chef and owner of Taco Punk — a Kentucky Proud Louisville quick service restaurant that features locally and responsibly raised farm products — found guidance in his beliefs on healthy food from acclaimed Henry County author and activist Wendell Berry.

  • Crusade donates to local schools

     

    The WHAS Crusade for Children will dole out $5.6 million to service agencies, libraries, hospitals and schools in Kentucky, which includes both the Eminence and Henry County school systems, according to a news release.

  • Henry County Help Center expanding into communities

     Keeping supplies on the shelves at the Henry County Help Center has become a challenge, according to Director Joe Durbin.

    Other programs provide assistance, but Durbin wanted to open a food pantry to try to take care of the needs across Henry County.

  • Tri-County feeds Henry for 35 years

     

    The Dare to Care commodities program administered by the Tri-County Community Action Agency has served tons of food to qualifying recipients in Henry County after operating here for 35 years.

  • Eminence looks into noise relief

     

    Eminence city officials took a cue from a loud music complaint from a citizen in May to study whether a noise ordinance may help provide relief, though it may not go any further than a feasibility study.

    Hearts of Grace reached out to students getting ready to go back to school and their families July 16-17 at New Castle Christian Church — to help them to start the new year right.

  • Agricultural festival supports local farmers

    We hope you can make it out to the Henry County Fairgrounds this Saturday, July 26, for the 15th annual Henry County Harvest Showcase and Lunch at the Farmers Market. Scheduled officially from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., you’ll find nice things to see and do even before and after those times.

    Very early, you’ll be able to have a great country ham breakfast (local food) at the Chamber of Commerce kitchen (proceeds go to the Chamber for their good projects and activities).

    Bring the whole family to this event that is free and open to the public at the Henry County Kentucky Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 26!

    The day will open with a live broadcast with Reed Yadon and the Chamber of Commerce Breakfast of old ham and fresh farm eggs that starts at 7:30 a.m. and runs until it is gone! A full locally raised breakfast is available for only $8.00 and includes eggs and country ham, biscuits, gravy and a beverage.
