  • Vaughn Wins Henry County Invitational

    The Henry County Country Club hosted the Henry County Invitational men’s golf tournament on Saturday and Sunday. More than 70 players competed in seven different flights with Vincent Vaughn taking the title in the Championship flight.

    Vaughn shot 72 on Saturday but came back to fire a 3-under par 69 on Sunday to win the tournament by four strokes over David Jasper of Prospect and Aaron Tingle of Bedford. It was Vaughn’s fourth consecutive win in the annual tournament.

    Jasper beat Tingle in a one-hole playoff for second place.


  • Lady Cats golf drops Owen

    The Henry County Lady Cats golf team hosted the Owen County Lady Rebels on Aug. 20 and came away with a 180-185 victory against one of their biggest local rivals.

    MacKenzie Peyton led the way with her personal best score on the front nine at the Henry County Country Club. Peyton had four birdies and five pars to shoot a 4-under 33, taking individual honors over Shelby Power of Owen County who shot a 38.

  • Lady Cats soccer fall to Spencer, Bourbon

    The 2013 soccer season opened roughly for the Henry County Lady Cats, who fell to Spencer County 8-0 and Bourbon County 6-0.

    The Lady Cats hosted the Lady Bears in their Aug. 20 opener and gave up the first score on a  Spencer County shot from 18 yards out with 34:15 to play in the first half.

    Henry County then played on even terms with the talented Lady Bears until just 2:11 remained in the first half when Spencer County got their second goal from 15 yards out on a breakaway.

  • Wildcat gofers fall to Carroll County, 172-196

    The Henry County boys golf team is nothing if not consistent.

    The team shot a 192 at Wheatley in an Aug. 20 match against Carroll County, who shot 176. It was the third straight match in which the team shot 192.

    Alex Hadden led the way once again with a 43. Isaac Klempner shot a 46 and Robbie Cruse had his personal best round with a 49. Dillon Allen rounded out the scoring with a 54. Jakob Beckley also played and shot 57.

  • Brooklyn Renee

    Darlene Hedges, Eminence and Billie Ellison, Taylorsville announce the birth of their daughter, Brooklynn Renee. She was born Monday, August 12, 2013 at Baptist East Hospital. She weighed 5 pounds 6 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Sharon Hedges, Eminence and the late Edward Hedges and Darlene Ellison and Ray Ellison, Taylorsville.
