    The 2018 spring sports season has come to a close and it’s time to look back on the highlights of our local teams.

    Wildcats’ bad postseason luck continues

    The Henry County Wildcats had their second season in a row end with a 1-0 defeat in the postseason. Last year HCHS saw the Owen County Rebels end their season in the district tournament by scratching across a single run.

     HCHS Lady Cats alumni game

    The Henry County Lady Cats alumni softball game will be held June 15 at the HCHS softball field at 7 p.m.

    A $10 donation is requested to play in the game. Proceeds will benefit former HCHS player Savannah Mertz who is fighting lupus at this time.

  • Rockets slide past Wildcats, 1-0, in region

    The Eighth Region first round matchup between Shelby County and Henry County played Monday at Oldham County was a pitcher’s duel that came down to a wild play. Two Henry County errors on one play allowed the winning run to cross the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning.

    Shelby County pitcher Caleb Collins pitched a one-hitter and allowed only two base runners the entire game. 

    Henry County pitcher Jaydon Berry was nearly as good. Berry scattered six hits over the seven innings and allowed one unearned run.

  • Jackson named EHS boys' hoops coach

    Eminence High School athletic director Tye Lawson introduced the new boys’ basketball coach to players in the EdHub at EHS May 29. 

    Patrick Jackson will be the fourth Warriors’ basketball coach in four years. Jackson was the head coach at St. Francis High School last year.

  • Sharpshooters open at at Spencer County

    The Henry County 4-H Sharpshooters traveled with 20 team members to Taylorsville Saturday, May 12, to compete in shotgun, archery, .22 rifle, air pistol and .22 pistol at the Spencer County Invitational. 

    The competition drew participants from several surrounding counties and was the first competition of the year.

    The Sharpshooters had a successful day, with numerous team members bringing home trophies, including some first-time winners and several returning veterans.
