  • Early bird grain meeting scheduled for Nov. 27

    A lot of Henry Countians are involved in corn and soybean production these days.  To get things started off with the latest information, UK Cooperative Extension is holding early bird grain meetings for farmers across the state.  The Central and Eastern Kentucky meeting will be from 1:30 to 4:30, Tuesday, Nov. 27, as a live-internet session in the Henry County Extension Office.

     What is your favorite subject?

    Math. Math comes easiest to me. I like multiplication, addition, division and subtraction.

    Two cats Milo and She Ra.

    If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

    I would go to D.C. and visit the president at the White House.

    I want to ask him questions about why he wants to be president and what you have to do to become a president. I want to know why he likes being president.

    To Miami because that is where my favorite team is the Miami Dolphins.

    I want to be a quarterback and play football.

  • YOCO poster contest winners

    Ms. Lund’s third grade class at Eastern Elementary School  was recently rewarded with an ice cream party for winning the Red Ribbon Week poster contest sponsored by Youth Coalition. For the Halloween-themed contest, Ms. Lund’s class created a poster covered in spiders with the slogan, “We’d rather eat bugs than do drugs!” Youth Coalition members that visited the students at Eastern this past week to provide the ice cream party were Madison Pittman, Mackenzie Pittman and Kennedy Fitzgerald (back row with Ms. Lund).

  • Eminence receives splash pad grant

    Eminence Mayor Drane Stephens announced last week that the city will receive a $42,000 matching grant from the state for a proposed splash pad water park.

    In April, the Eminence City Council applied for a Land and Water grant which would fund a water recreation area at the park. City officials are uncertain as to when they will be given the grant, but Stephens said in the meeting that the governor wanted to deliver him the check personally.
