    KSP Arrests

    Zane Harris, 22, of Louisville was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense; buy/possess drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana.

    Carlos Calvo Zacarias, 23 of Springfield, Tennessee was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehichle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense; no operator/moped license; and failure to produce insurance card.

    Church Activities

    Sulphur Christian Church meets for Worship and Wellness, a whole wellness program that includes spiritual, physical and emotional wellness, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday.

    Drennon Christian Church meets from 6 to 8 p.m. most Wednesdays. Check the Facebook page for the current schedule.

  • Wildcats win 31st District Tournament


    The Henry County Wildcats traveled to Owen County May 20 to take on Gallatin County in the semifinals of the 31st District tournament and came away with a 10-1 win.

    The Wildcats showed uncharacteristic power in the game with three home runs after hitting only two as a team the entire season. Tyler Massey was also outstanding on the mound with 16 strikeouts.

    The Wildcats scored three runs in the first. Zack Woods walked to lead off and, with one out, Tyler Boyer hit a home run over the left field fence.

  • Lady Cats are 31st District champions


    The Henry County Lady Cats played host Owen County May 21 in the 31st District tournament and came away with a 2-0 win over the Lady Rebels.

    The Lady Cats were able to get base runners on in the first two innings but didn’t break through until the third inning.

    Gracie Golden led off with a bunt hit and Haley Peyton was hit by a pitch. With one out, Savannah Russell laid a sacrifice bunt that moved the runners to second and third before Sydney Raisor came through with a base hit to right field to score both runners.

  • EHS falls to Carroll in district tournament


    The Eminence Warriors traveled to Owen County May 21 to take on the Carroll County Lady Panthers in the 31st District tournament and fell behind early.

    Carroll County’s Andrea Searcy struck out the side in the top of the first and then came to the plate in the bottom of the inning and hit a three-run home run to give Carroll County a 3-0 lead.

  • Sports Briefs-Wildcat Basketball Skills Camp

    Wildcat basketball skills camp

    The Henry County Wildcat Basketball Skills Camp will be held June 3-5 at Henry County High School from 9 a.m. to noon.

    The cost of the camp is $40. There is a $5 discount for siblings. Walk up registrations will be accepted. Make checks payable to HCHS.

    Parents and guardians are invited to watch their camper in action any time.

  • Missing boy found dead

    An 8-year-old autistic boy drowned in a pond May 25, hours after he was reported missing.

    Kentucky State Police (KSP) received a 911 call at 9:51 p.m. on May 24 that Walker Henry Weeks, a young autistic boy, was missing from his home, according to a KSP press release.

    KSP entered the missing boy’s information into the NCIC database.

    Several agencies joined KSP in an expansive search for the juvenile in the area where he went missing. “The search for the juvenile lasted for approximately five hours,” according to the release.

    This is the story of one local man who endured and survived more than one Japanese prisoner camp, a young man used and abused as forced labor for a monumental project to benefit the Japanese.

  • Military families invited to free day of fun

    Service Members Veterans and Families Taskforce (SMVF) invites military families to Military Family Appreciation Day at Lake Jericho Recreational Area, from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 2, to honor active service military, veterans and their families, who serve alongside service members.

    The entire day will be free to military families.

    Food from FDKY BBQ will be served from noon until 3 p.m.

    Music, fishing, kayaks, rowboats, corn hole, volleyball, a bouncy house, face painting and a bubble bus will be among the afternoon’s activities.

  • Primary Election 2019: Here’s how Henry County voted

    The numbers are in for total number of votes in Henry County for the Kentucky Primary Election on May 21. A total of 2,580 voters went to the polls May 21, according to an unofficial ballot reported on Tuesday.

    The results are as followed (state winners are marked with *):

    Governor- Republican

    William Woods: 93 votes, 10.5 percent

    *Matt Bevin: 557 votes, 63 percent

    Robert Goforth: 219 votes, 24.8 percent

    Ike Lawrence: 15 votes, 1.7 percent
