     Fishing tournament

    The Henry County Rod and Gun Club will hold its annual fishing tournament May 26. 

    The kids’ tournament will be from 9 a.m. to noon. The adult tournament will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    The kids’ tournament is free. 

    The entry fee for adults is $20.

    Memberships to the Rod and Gun Club will be sold the day of the tournament.

    The lake will be closed May 24, 25 and 26 to other fishing.

  • Wildcats beat Gallatin, earn top...

    The Henry County Wildcats hosted Gallatin County April 30 for the right to be the top seed in the 31st District tournament and came away with an easy 17-0 win in five innings.

    Daniel Murray started on the mound for the Wildcats and pitched a one-hitter, while striking out nine batters and walking two.

    The Wildcats led 1-0 going into the bottom of the third inning and erupted for 13 runs to put the game away.

  • EHS beats Gallatin, Burgin

    The Eminence Warriors hosted Gallatin County May 1st and came away with their first district win of the season.

    Gallatin County threatened in the first inning and appeared to have scored a run after a couple of errors by the Warriors. But the official scorer found that the Lady Wildcats had batted out of order and the batter who had driven in the run was called out and the run was disallowed.

  • Lady Cats split four games

    The Henry County Lady Cats got a busy week started with a road trip to take on the Owen County Lady Rebels in an important district seeding game and lost on a walk off base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.

    The Lady Cats started well as Gracie Golden reached on a bunt hit. Haley Peyton sacrificed her to second before Gracie Brent singled to score Golden and give the Lady Cats a 1-0 lead.

  • Warriors fall to Panthers,...

    The Eminence Warriors hosted Frankfort April 30 and fell to the Panthers 15-6.

    Frankfort jumped on top early with three runs in the first, three in the second and six in the third to lead 12-0 before the Warriors rallied to close the gap.

    Eminence scored a run in the bottom of the third when Allen Baxter got a one-out double and Marshall Metten brought him in with a base hit.

    Eminence cut the lead to 12-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

    The Eminence Warriors hosted Henry County Thursday afternoon in the rivals’ second game of the season and put a scare into them for four innings before succumbing to the long ball.

    The Warriors threatened to score first in the bottom of the first when Allen Baxter drew a one-out walk before Marshall Metten doubled to center field to put runners on second and third.

    HCHS pitcher Zack Woods struck out the next two batters to end the threat.

  • Warriors' comeback falls...

    The Eminence Warriors hosted Owen County Friday and came back from an early 8-0 deficit before losing 12-11 in extra innings.

    Owen County scored two runs in the first, three in the second and three more in the third as the game began to look like it would last only five innings due to the 10-run rule.

    But Eminence rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to get back in the game.

  • EHS loses to Lady Rebels, 8-5

    The Eminence Warriors hosted the Owen County Lady Rebels Friday evening in a district seeding game and after taking an early lead lost 8-5.

    The Warriors got into trouble when two base runners reached for the Lady Rebels in the top of the first but they were able to escape without giving up a run.

    In the bottom of the inning, the Warriors scratched across a run. Alexis Shield led off with a double to left field.

  • Lady Cats lose to Trimble, 5-2

    The host Trimble County Lady Raiders built an early 5-0 lead against the Henry County Lady Cats and then held on for a 5-2 win Thursday.

    Henry County got two runners on with two outs in the first inning. Lizzie Young singled before Savannah Russell reached on a error that allowed Young to advance to third base. But a ground out ended the threat.
