  • Lady Rebels end EHS Warriors...


    The Eminence Warriors took on the top-seeded Owen County Lady Rebels in the semifinals of the 31st District tournament May 21 and lost 6-2 after leading through three innings.

    The Warriors scored a run in the top of the second inning when Emilie Ethington reached on a bloop single. Ethington stole second base before attempting a steal of third. The throw to third base by the Lady Rebels’ catcher got away from the third baseman and Ethington scampered home to make it 1-0.

  • Tavi West signs with Dominican...


    EHS senior Tavi West signed a letter of intent May 21 in the Eminence Independent Schools’ EdHub to play basketball for Dominican University in River Forrest, Illinois.

    West, who recently completed her senior year for the Eminence Warriors’ girls basketball program, said she had been thinking about playing at the next level for a while now.

  • Emily Slone signs with UK dance...


    HCHS senior Emily Slone recently found out that she had been selected to be a part of the University of Kentucky Dance team. Slone was a cheerleader at HCHS for four years but had years of dance experience.

    “It’s been my dream to be on the UK dance team since I started dancing at five years old,” Slone said.

    Slone made a connection through dance camps with the UK coaches who invited her to try out.

    The tryouts were held May 4-6 and Slone found out Wednesday, May 9, that she had made the team.

    Faithe Axline’s two-out, two-strike RBI single in the fifth inning proved to be the difference between the Eminence Warriors and the Gallatin County Lady Wildcats in the first round of the 31st District tournament Sunday at Henry County High School.

  • Wildcats beat Trimble on senior...


    The Henry County Wildcats hosted Trimble County May 15 for senior day and came away with a win to send the upperclassmen off in style.

    Jaydon Berry pitched six innings of shutout ball and Justin Edens finished the game with a scoreless inning of work.

    Henry County scored two runs in the bottom of the first when Nic Riggins and Daniel Murray got back-to-back singles with one out before Edens drew a walk to load the bases.

  • Lady Cats drop three game


    The Henry County Lady Cats hosted Shelby County May 15 and fell to the Lady Rockets by eight runs after entering the fifth inning with a 4-2 lead.

    Shelby County’s leadoff hitter, Hannah Webb led off the first inning with a home run to left field to give the Lady Rockets a 1-0 lead.

    Henry County loaded the bases in the bottom of the first with two outs but could not get a run across the plate.

    Shelby County took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on a two-out single followed by a double.

  • Warriors fall to Rebels


    The Eminence Warriors baseball season came to an end in the first round of the district tournament as they lost 6-2 to the Owen County Rebels at Henry County High School.

    Owen County scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

    The Rebels added a run in the bottom of the second.

  • Sports Briefs

     Wildcats Basketball Skills Camp

    The Henry County Wildcat Basketball Skills Camp will be held June 11to13 at Henry County High School from 9 a.m. to noon.

    The camp is for boys ages K-8 grade.

    The cost of the camp is $40. There is a $5 discount for siblings. Walk up registrations will be accepted. Campers will receive a t-shirt for their participation.

    Camp will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Campers may be dropped off at the HCHS gymnasium. Parents and guardians are invited to watch their camper in action at any time.

  • Lady Cats defeat Warriors, earn...


    The Henry County Lady Cats hosted Eminence in the final district seeding game of the season on May 7. A lot was at stake in the game. If the Warriors had won the game, EHS, Henry County and Carroll County would have finished district-seeding games with 2-2 records and a draw would have determined seeds two through four. A win for Henry County meant they would get the two seed, Carroll would get the three seed and Eminence would get the four seed.

    The game started with Eminence jumping ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning.

     HCHS Lady Cats Alumni Game

    The Henry County Lady Cats alumni softball game will be held June 15th at the HCHS softball field at 7 p.m.

    A $10 donation is requested to play in the game. Proceeds will benefit former HCHS player Savannah Mertz who is fighting lupus at this time.
