    Any football movie: Friday Night Lights, We Are Marshall, Forrest Gump – it had some football in it.

  • Buchanan honored by Centre...

    Centre College dedicated an outdoor classroom in memory of Donald Buchanan Saturday as part of their homecoming weekend activities.

    Buchanan, a 1979 graduate of Henry County High School and a 1983 graduate of Centre College died in May 2011.

    A four-year letterman in football and basketball in high school, Buchanan won the Ross Wallace Award for outstanding male athlete of the year in 1978 and 1979.

  • Dream Season ends in Semis

    The Eminence High School volleyball team’s dream season ended on October 30 when they fell to an athletic Oldham County Lady Colonels’ team 3-0. Oldham County went on to defeat North Oldham 3-1 to take the regional championship and move on to the state tournament to be held at Valley High School November 8-10.

    The Warriors, who finished the season with a 22-3 record found the Lady Colonels’ size and athleticism too much to overcome but gave it a game effort.

  • Logsdon qualifies for state meet

    The Henry County cross country team traveled to Louisville Saturday to compete in the Region 3 Class 2A meet at Champions Park. Sophomore Josh Logsdon came through with a personal best time to qualify for the state meet.

    Coach Ricky Drawbaugh had prepared the runners for a flat course and let them know what it would take to get to regional. “I told the boys it would probably take 18 flat to qualify for state and Sydney would need 22:30.”

  • Warriors finish strong

    The Eminence Warriors football team traveled to Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon to take on the Oyler Hatmakers and ran into a team facing similar circumstances.

    The Hatmakers were caught short-handed by a rash of injuries as the Warriors welcomed back their top running back Shelby Armstrong who had missed the last game and a half with a knee injury.

    The Warriors scored early and often as they racked up 30 first quarter points and then watched as their young teammates got some valuable varsity experience.

  • Wildcats fall to Spencer County...

    The Henry County Wildcats traveled to Taylorsville on Friday night to take on the Spencer County Bears who were honoring their seniors in the regular season finale for both teams and lost 19-0.

    The Wildcats found consistency on offense to be a problem. “We just couldn’t sustain any drives,” coach Jason Spencer said. “We haven’t had our full offensive backfield together much this year that makes it hard to get any consistency. With (quarterback) Brennen (Peniston) getting hurt in practice Tuesday it happened to us again.”

    Rap and hip hop/Kendrick Lamar.

  • Peyton wins Tourney at Cardinal...

    MacKenzie Peyton won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour tournament at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville on November 2-3. The Tournament was part of the the College Prep Series for 15-18 year-olds. Winners received an invitation to the Tour Championship. Gypsie Hutchinson of Lexington and Meredith Moir of Louisville tied for second place. Peyton is pictured above third from left.

  • Warriors win JV HCYFL...

    The Eminence Warrior JV football team won the HCYFL league tournament on October 20 by defeating the Campbellsburg Bengals. the Warriors ended the season with a 10-0 record and repeated as JV champions.

    Players on the team are Bryce Beckley, Elias Blake, Josh Dixon, Blake Downey, Quentin Durrett, Nathan Frazier, Christian Garduno, Hunter Gibson, Mason Gnagie, Aaron Hamilton, Jose Hernandez, Jaiden Jones, Brayden Murray, Abelaro Reza, Chris Roberts, Dezzmon Runion, Davontaye Saunders, Jaxon Scriber and Desmond Smith.
