  • Lady Cats down Warriors 49-13

The Henry County Lady Cats hosted the Eminence Warriors on Dec. 10 and came away with a 49-13 victory.

Ashley Craigmyle got the first bucket of the game on a put back and Cheyenne Clark hit a 3-pointer and layup to give the Wildcats an early 7-0 lead as the Warriors young team struggled to get their offense going.

The Wildcats played 10 players in the first quarter and led 13-0 going into the second quarter.

  • Wildcats 5-0 after wins over...

The Henry County Wildcats got a rare road win over the Gallatin County Wildcats on Friday night by a score of 53-52. The Cats needed a furious comeback in the game’s final two minutes to get their first win in Warsaw since Dec. 12, 2001, when George Abernathy’s Wildcats won 57-53.

The Cats were down seven points with 1:47 left in the game but they scored eight points of the next nine points and then held on in the game’s final 28 seconds to secure the important district win.

  • Lady Cats defeat Sayre, Shawe

The Henry County Lady Cats hosted the Sayre Lady Spartans on Thursday night and came away with a 48-43 victory.

The Lady Cats built a sizable lead in the second and third periods after falling behind in the first period 9-6.

“The first quarter was just a feeling out quarter for both teams,” Coach Todd Gilley said. “It wasn’t like either team was playing poorly even though we weren’t scoring, we weren’t playing poorly.”

  • Warriors fall to Model

The Eminence Warriors would probably just as soon forget their trip to Richmond on Saturday to take on the Richmond Model Patriots. The Warriors were without leading scorer Jalen Dixie, who is serving a two-game suspension for his ejection in the Henry County game, and DeMarcus Bailey who sprained his ankle in practice on Thursday night.

Add to that what Coach Chris Nethery described as a lack of effort and poor shooting and you have a recipe for a blowout loss, which is what happened to the Warriors as they fell to the Patriots 60-31.

  • EHS Girls Drop Two

The Eminence Warriors girls’ basketball team hosted the Collegiate Amazons on Thursday night and fell 57-22.

The Warriors got off to a slow start as they struggled with the Amazons’ full court press. Collegiate scored on layups off their press mixed with 3-point shots and free throws to take a 19-1 lead after the first period.

The game continued on the same path to start the second quarter as Collegiate scored the first seven points to make it 26-1.

  • Warriors down Raider; Dixie...

The Eminence Warriors traveled to Bedford on a wintry Saturday night after having their opening home game with Gallatin County postponed on Friday night due to bad road conditions.

  • Wildcats Roll in Week One

The Henry County Wildcats celebrated their home opener against the Western Hills Wolverines on Thursday night with a dominating 61-19 victory. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Austin Young with 14 points, but it was the depth of the Wildcats that overwhelmed the Wolverines.

The game started at a frenetic pace but neither team could find their shooting touch early and after four minutes the score stood at 4-4. But the Cats went on a 13-0 run to finish the opening period and never looked back.
