  • Lady Cats fall to two district...

In their first half against the visiting Owen County Lady Rebels, the Henry County Lady Cats played one of their best halves of the season. Despite showing improvement, the team fell to Owen 59-31.

The highly regarded Lady Rebels struggled against the Lady Cats in the first half.

While Henry County gave up 17 first quarter points they scored 10 of their own and according to Coach Todd Gilley handled some aspects of the game better than in recent games.

  • EHS girls pich up 2 wins

Friday night the Warriors girls’ team found the basket often on their way to their highest offensive output of the young season against Heritage Academy, 55-25.

The Warriors jumped on top using a new defensive weapon and then cruised to a lopsided win.

“This was the first game that we used our press and I was very happy with it considering it was our first time,” coach Bill Covington said. We scored a lot of points off turnovers in the first quarter and did a really good job on the boards.

  • Lady Cats defeat Warriors 33-19

Heading into halftime, the Henry County Lady Cats led in-county rival Eminence 18-16. Taking the court at halftime, the Lady Cats used a stingy, stifling defense to come away with a 33-19 win.

The Lady Cats outscored Eminence 11-2 in the third period to effectively put the game away.

Henry County opened with full-court pressure defense and forced the Warriors to turn the ball over on their first seven possessions of the game. But the Lady Cats squandered extra chances and led only 4-0 with less than 5 minutes to go in the period.

  • Warriors win on put back

The Eminence Warriors boys’ basketball team led just twice in their home contest against Henry County last week, but as the saying goes, they led when it counts most.

Cornelius Sanford’s put-back of a Demarcus Bailey miss with 3.7 seconds left gave the Warriors a thrilling come-from-behind win over their cross-county rivals.

The score was tied at 52.

Four of the game’s taller players fouled out: Henry County’s Derek Jeffries and Austin Young; and Eminence’s Brandon Mitchell and Daishon Moore.

  • Comeback falls short v. Trimble

Three days after they came from behind to defeat their in-county rivals, the Eminence Warriors almost pulled off another come-from-behind victory, this time against Trimble County.

But the Warriors were one 3-point bomb shy of completing the comeback, and the Raiders came out with a 67-64 win.

Eminence built a nice lead with a 13-2 run to open the game only to see it fall as Trimble fought their way back into it.  Eventually the Raiders would lead by 10 points, at 32-22, and lead by 8 at the half.

  • Lady Cats down Shawe

Following their win over Eminence, the Henry County Lady Cats took on regional powerhouse Gallatin County, and fell 57-18.

But Saturday night, the Lady Cats took advantage of their home court in a 45-22 win over Shawe High School.

Cheyenne Clark led the Lady Cats with 20 points, while Colleen Coomes dominated the glass with 15 rebounds.
