  • EHS beats Cornerstone Christian...


    The Eminence Warriors hosted Walton-Verona in the first round of the All Classic softball tournament and fell victim to some hot hitting by the Bearcats.

    Walton scored two runs in the top of the second on a home run. They added six in the third inning on an RBI single, a three-run home run and a two-run triple to take an 8-0 lead.

    The Warriors got a run back in the bottom of the fifth when Emilie Ethington led off with a triple and Camille Scott brought her home with a groundout. 

  • Lady Cats drop two


    The Henry County Lady Cats hosted Dixie Heights April 9 and fell to the hard-hitting Lady Colonels 11-1.

    The Lady Colonels’ first batter of the game hit a home run to set the tone for the game. Two more runs came via a single, a double and another single to give Dixie Heights a 3-0 lead. 

    The Lady Colonels added three more runs in the top of the third with the help of a big two-out, two-run double to make it 6-0.

    Henry County got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. 

  • Warriors lose to Trimble,...


    The Eminence Warriors traveled to Bedford April 9 to take on the Trimble County Raiders in the first round of the All A Classic Eighth Region tournament and fell 11-0.

    Trimble County scored one run in each of the first two innings before breaking the game open in the third inning with six runs. They added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

    Eminence managed just two hits, one by Marshall Metten and one by Trenton Smith.

    The Warriors totaled just six base runners for the game that ended in the fifth inning.

    Peyton wins two matches, helps USA to victory

    Former Henry County High School golfer MacKenzie Peyton helped the University of South Alabama Jaguars to win the Cardinal Challenge Match Play Tournament in Beaumont Texas April 9.

    The Jaguars won their first match 4-1 over Stephen F. Austin then defeated Lamar University 3-2 in the afternoon to win the four-team tournament.

    Peyton won her first match 1 up over Paola Cortes-Ortiz of SFA. In the championships match, Peyton defeated Felicia Sauceda of Lamar 3 and 2.

    Eminence High School senior Seth Wolford signed to play football at Thomas More College next season in a ceremony held April 11 in the EdHub at Eminence High School. Wolford, who was signed to play offensive line for the Saints, was pleasantly surprised by the opportunity.

  • Wildcats go 3-2, thaw out in...


    The Henry County Wildcats took to the diamond April 2 for their second game of a five-game road trip to Florida and came away with a 6-3 victory over the McLean County Cougars.

    The Wildcats fell behind early but a big third inning and two runs produced with “small ball” in the sixth made all the difference.

    McLean scored a single run in the second inning after pitcher Zack Woods hit the leadoff batter. The base runner took second on a wild pitch. 

  • Lady Cats defeat Thomas Nelson...


    The Henry County Lady Cats won their second game in as many starts April 4 when they hosted the Thomas Nelson Generals. A big fifth inning for the Lady Cats broke open a close game.

    Thomas Nelson got off to a good start when they scored two runs with one out in the top of the first inning. The leadoff batter reached on a walk then the second batter was hit by a pitch before a fly ball got caught in the strong winds and sailed deep into center field to score both runners.

  • EHS girls beat Ludlow, fall to...


    The Eminence Warriors traveled to Ludlow Friday and picked up their first win of the season.

    The Warriors pounded out 20 hits on their way to a 7-2 win over the Panthers. Audrey and Clarice Wilkerson combined to hold Ludlow to seven hits and two runs.

    The Warriors scored two runs in the top of the first. Audrey Wilkerson singled to right field with one out to start the scoring rally. She stole second before Clarice Wilkerson popped out to first base. 

  • Lady Cats win opener vs....


    The Henry County Lady Cats got a district win over Gallatin County in their delayed season opener March 26.

    The Lady Cats’ original opener ended after just a couple of innings on March 19 against East Jessamine because of rain. In that game the Lady Cats were down 3-0 when the umpires called the game off.

    This time around the Lady Cats got off to a better start and broke the game open early with nine runs in the bottom of the second inning.

  • Commanders defeat Wildcats, 9-6...


    The Henry County Wildcats started their spring break trip in Destin Florida with a game against Washington County and fell by three runs to the Commanders despite mounting a late-inning rally.

    The Commanders got off to a strong start against Henry County pitcher Jaydon Berry with three runs in the first inning.
