  • Wildcats clip Commanders in...

    The Henry County Wildcats traveled to Springfield Dec. 18 to take on Washington County and came away with an 87-86 overtime win over the Commanders. 

    Henry County got a 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer from Zack Foree to send the game into overtime.

    The Wildcats were up by three points late in the fourth period but Washington County scored to cut it to one and then fouled to stop the clock. Henry County missed the free throw and Washington County grabbed the rebound and raced down court to score and go up by one.

  • EHS routs Lady Aces, 70-49

    The Eminence Warriors traveled to Cloverport Dec. 19 to take on the Frederick Fraize Lady Aces and came away with a 21-point victory.

    The Warriors led 18 to 14 after the first period of play. Aaliyah Bailey had eight points and Tavi West had seven points during the opening frame to lead the Warriors.

    The Warriors broke the game open in the second period by outscoring the Lady Aces 26-7 to lead 44-21 at halftime.

  • Lady Cats drop three in tourney

    The Henry County Lady Cats played the host Campbellsville Lady Eagles in the opening round of the Food Pantry Classic Dec. 20 and fell 51-29.

    Both teams got off to a slow start with neither scoring in the first four minutes of the game.

    “We had seven defensive stops in a row but turned it over six times,” HCHS coach Jim Hook said. “We had one shot to show for those seven possessions.”

  • Wildcats move to 3-1 in district

    The Henry County Wildcats hosted Carroll County Dec. 12 and picked up their second district win of the season. The Wildcats led most of the first half but fell behind after a lackluster third period before rallying with a strong fourth period.

    Landon Morgan opened the scoring with a free throw 59 seconds into the game before Carroll County took their only lead of the first half with a drive by Wyatt Supplee who led the Panthers with 19 points in the game.

  • Warriors win three, drop one

    Eminence hosted Frederick Fraize Thursday night and used pressure defense and good shooting from beyond the 3-point arc to come away with a 20-point win over the Aces.

    The Warriors started slowly and were tied at six with 5:41 left in the opening period. But Mano Saunders hit two free throws at the 5:16 mark to start a 9-2 run to give them a 17-8 lead.

    After a Fraize 3-pointer stopped that run, the Warriors scored the last eight points of the first quarter to lead 25-11 going into the second period.

  • Lady Cats drop two district games

    The Henry County Lady Cats hosted Carroll County Dec. 12 and fell to the Lady Panthers in an important district matchup.

    Carroll County jumped out to a 9-1 lead before the Lady Cats could get their offense on track.

    Janey Thompson hit a free throw with 2:55 left in the first period to make the score 9-2 before Carroll County scored on a drive to the basket to stretch the lead to nine points.

    But Henry County outscored the Lady Panthers 6-4 in the final two minutes of the period to trail 15-8 going into the second quarter.

  • Lady Dragons outgun Warriors

    The Eminence Warriors hosted the South Oldham Lady Dragons Dec. 11 and found themselves in a shootout from the opening tip.

    Aaliyah Bailey hit two free throws just 13 seconds into the contest but that would be their last lead of the night as they played catch-up the rest of the way.

    South Oldham followed with an 8-0 run before Camille Scott hit a runner in the lane and Tavi West scored on a layup to make it an 8-6 game with 5:15 left.

  • Wildcats win round one of...

    The Henry County Wildcats hosted the Eminence Warriors Dec. 5 in an early season district rivalry matchup. The Wildcats had just two games under their belts and the Warriors had three coming into the first of two regular season showdowns.

    The Wildcats got the best of the Warriors in this one as Noah McGee went for 31 points and 12 rebounds to lead Henry County to a 77-63 win.

  • Lady Cats lose to Bearcats

    The Henry County Lady Cats hosted Walton-Verona Dec. 4 and lost to the Bearcats 65-30.

    The Lady Cats went in front 5-4 early in the first quarter but Walton finished the quarter on an 18-3 run to lead 22-8 going into the second period.

    The second period turned out to be a defensive battle as Henry County managed just four points to Walton’s three to leave the Bearcats leading 25-12 at halftime.

  • Warriors down Demons, 60-52

    The Eminence Warriors traveled to Williamstown Thursday night to take on the Demons and prevailed, 60-52, for their first victory of the season. The Warriors were able to do so despite not having Dre Wright available due to a minor back injury and trailing at halftime.

    Williamstown opened with the first three points of the game on a field goal and free throw before Kris Dixon scored inside for the Warriors.
