Hicks’ stepson, Cleveland Riley, 43, was arrested March 5 for charges of murder in the stabbing death of Hicks and tampering with physical evidence. Organizers, including the Lake Jericho Recreational Area campground management, have coordinated a benefit for Hicks’ wife, Emma, to raise funds for Hicks’ funeral expenses. The benefit will be held at the Henry County Fairgrounds on March 16 from noon to 4 p.m.

“We’ve known them for years, “Lake Jericho campground manager Melissa Ramsey said of Emma and Lorenzo Hicks, who she said frequented Lake Jericho to fish.

The benefit includes live music from Timmy Mertz and Joe Truman and raffles of donated items.

“Anyone who wants to come, there’s a $5 cover charge, and there’s a raffle with tickets for $1 or 6 for $5,” she said of the baskets of donated items for the raffle.

Food vendor Bully Barbecue will also be there, Ramsey said, adding that she expected pizza would also be available for attendees to buy.

Funeral Services for Hicks are Monday, March 18 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
