Eric Payton’s family knew that March 14 was going to be a difficult day.

Emotions were high at the Henry County Temporary Courthouse when Alora Davila, 29, was sentenced in the 2017 DUI death of Eric Payton.

She received 13 years for manslaughter, wanton endangerment and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, aggravated; amended down from her previous murder charge.

Payton’s sister, Jana Goldey addressed the court with her victim’s impact statement, her voice shaking.
