Let me be the first to say that my family and I continue to hold the 47th House District in our thoughts and prayer. In the face of adversity, our community has shown remarkable strength and resilience. As your representative, I am committed to working tirelessly to advocate for the resources needed to rebuild our communities stronger and more resilient than ever before. Together, we will overcome this challenge and emerge thriving on the other side.

In the wake of this tragedy, I would like to offer this update to inform you of resources available to those who need them as well as the opportunity to volunteer. While the specific needs are not yet clear, it is important to be informed on what is available at this time.

Staging station: There is a staging station for cleanup and other necessities at the Milton Fire Department, located at 11556 Highway 421 in Milton. If you wish to assist in cleanup, it is imperative that you stop by this station so that officials can mitigate any looting or bad actors.

Housing assistance: There will be housing options, including trailers, offered at General Butler State Park, located at 1608 KY 227 in Carrollton.

Medical assistance: If you need oxygen or shelter, the University of Kentucky extension office is the current primary location for this service. This is located at 43 High County Road in Bedford.

Contacts for further assistance: Andrew Stark, the emergency services director for Trimble County, is available by phone; (502) 210-3032.

Additionally, Senator Rand Paul’s office has offered services through his website: https://www.paul.senate.gov/services/disaster-relief/

Thus far, I have spent countless hours on the phone with local and executive branch officials to stay up-to-date on any information available. As it stands currently, approximately 100 homes were affected by the storm with the expectation for that number to rise. I have seen the damage firsthand, but amidst the damage there is a resilience in our area to rebuild and lend a helping hand. While we begin this process, it is important to keep a diligent watch for fly-by-night contractors who seek to take advantage of this terrible situation.

If I can be of any assistance, I would ask that you please reach out to my office anytime through the toll-free message line in Frankfort at 1-800-372-7181, or by email at Felicia.Rabourn@lrc.ky.gov.
