From Spring Break to a solar eclipse to a Spring Shindig…the library has a long list of activities going on as the weather warms up.

This is not a joke…the library has a limited number of solar eclipse glasses we will make available to the public beginning on Monday, April 1 at 10 a.m. You must pick up your glasses in person and will not be able to reserve glasses by phone.

Spring Break is here! Join us daily during Spring Break Week, April 1 — April 5 for fun activities in the Children’s Area and Teen Space. Activities will be available from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. and will include crafts, science experiments, art projects, games, and more. During Spring Break Week, we will also be participating in Citizen Science Month, helping to make a collective impact with One Million Acts of Science by helping with scientific research across the globe.

The spring session of Movers & Shakers has begun. Move, groove, and learn together every Monday at 10 a.m. as we mix music and movement with early literacy and social skills practice to provide a well-rounded learning experience for infants, toddlers, and their caregivers.

Adults can join us on Monday, April 1 at 6 p.m. for Monday Night Craft night. We will be making lemon stamped tea towels.

Genealogy Search Help will be available in the Genealogy Room 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 16.

English practice continues on Wednesdays in April from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. We have lessons, laptops, and tables prepared, as well as toys and games for younger learners. Bring your questions (or homework) or just swing by to see what the library has to offer.

You can join Miss Sara in our Outer Space-themed Learning Depot on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. for stories, songs, games, and more. All ages are welcome in the Depot

Adults can experience a Sound Bath Meditation on Thursday, April 4 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sound baths are a meditation that uses sound vibration to connect, calm, and heal the physical body.

Story Time with Miss Lizzie occurs every Friday at 10 a.m. Although the program is designed with ages 3-4 in mind, all ages and developmental levels are welcome. During Story Time, you’ll read a few books, sing, move, play, and more while learning.

Bayley will lead Tai Chi at 11:30 a.m. every Friday in April.

The Friends of the Library will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 4 at 3 p.m. The Friends hold fundraisers and apply for grants to support library programming. You can join the Friends today and help support the library!

On April 8, the library will celebrate the solar eclipse with fun activities inside and outside the library from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. You can watch NASA’s event coverage on the big screen and view the eclipse from our parking lot. We will have a limited number of eclipse glasses available on the day of the event for attendees. If we run out during the event, do not worry; library staff will share their glasses with you.

Make your own “Sun & Moon Acrylic Painting” on Monday, April 8 at 6 p.m. Adults, please register before the event because supplies are limited.

The Director’s Book Group will meet Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. to discuss the novel This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger. Please join us in the library Genealogy Room as we unpack this book.

Calling all teens! Meet us in the Teen Space on Wednesday, April 10 to create a stress relief kit and play some giant games. Supplies will be available from 4PM to 6:30PM. Teen programs are designed for middle and high school students only.

The Writers Table will meet on Friday, April 12 and Friday, April 26 at 5 p.m. Engage in writing prompts, share your work, engage in feedback, and share resources. The group is for all levels of writers.

All adults are welcome to make “Sweet Orange Lotion Bars,” on Monday, April 15 at 6 p.m. Please register before the event because supplies are limited. Everyone is welcome to drop by the Meeting Room beginning at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16 to paint your own SquishmellowTM masterpiece on canvas. Supplies will be available all evening. We will provide the canvas with pre-drawn Squishmellow shapes, paint, brushes, and snacks. The project will take about an hour to complete so please arrive before 6PM in order to have time to finish your project.

Get cozy with Miss Sara at the fireplace for Black Joy Story Time on Thursday, April 18 at 4:30 p.m. There will be stories and songs that celebrate the joy, wonder, and fun of youth through the eyes of Black children. This program is designed for preschoolers and early elementary students, but all are welcome.

Make “Book Page Roses” at the library on Monday, April 22 at 6 p.m. All adults are welcome. No registration is required for this event.

The Henry County Library Board of Trustees will have their monthly board meeting on Thursday, April 25 at 5 p.m. in the library Genealogy Room.

Trivia Night at the Library will be Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. The winning team will receive a $25 gift card.

The Spring Shindig is back! Shop many local vendors on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. — 3 p.m. This event will be held in the library if the weather is bad. As always, the Shindig is the kickoff to our monthly Love Local Markets.

All adults can make their own “Scatter Kindness Book Décor” on Monday, April 29 at 6 p.m.

Teens are welcome to join us on Tuesday, April 30 at 4 p.m. for another program just for them. Teens will be encouraged to get messy by trying out a variety of art supplies and completing some interesting craft projects at the Crafternoon Party.

Regular library hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m..
